Memorial Hospital Names Kathy Bennett as Vice President of Community Relations & Development

Since joining Memorial Hospital as Director of Marketing & Public Relations in January 2013, Kathy Bennett’s focus has been on building community relations in addition to improvements to the organization’s marketing program. In addition to marketing, she has spearheaded community-minded efforts ranging from helping organize the launch the hospital’s popular school health & wellness program to overseeing their Patient Advisory Council to playing an integral role in events such as the annual Memorial Hospital Open Golf Tournament.

So with these accomplishments in mind, CEO and President Scott McKinnon recently announced the promotion of Bennett to the new role of Vice President, Community Relations & Development.  The role will now oversee volunteer services, marketing, public relations, community relations, events and development.

McKinnon shared, “Creating this new role at the Vice President level illustrates our commitment to playing a more prominent role in our community, both in terms of overall community health as well as outreach and awareness of our organization and our mission. It also emphasizes our desire to put a greater focus on our fundraising goals including increasing our endowment and planned giving.”

“I am honored to be recognized by Memorial Hospital and to play this role in support of our community,” stated Bennett. “I’m excited to take on this leadership role to now encompass development and look forward to overseeing the expansion of philanthropy for the benefit of the hospital.”

Fundraising events for the hospital have included the long-running golf tournament and the recently completed Memorial Hospital Legacy Gala. Bennett will be providing administrative oversight to the organization’s development efforts, identifying the proper philanthropic resources and professionals to tap in order to continue to build on the momentum the hospital has seen in recent years with the establishment of its Foundation.

In 2013, Memorial Hospital established the Memorial Hospital Foundation in 2013 to serve as steward for the hospital’s endowment and fundraising activities. The foundation was established in 2013 to serve as steward for the hospital’s endowment and fundraising activities. The Foundation insures that donor gifts stay in the local community to promote health and wellness for its citizens and visitors. In June 2014, the Foundation made an inaugural gift of $250,000 in support of the hospital’s Miranda Center for Diabetes & Endocrinology in support of its services to the community.
