Health Information Technology Program
This
NHCTCClaremont evening associate degree program prepares students for a career in
the field of health information management. As valuable assets to health care agencies
health information technicians manage clinical information systems and computer-based
patient records. Possible job opportunities include: health data analyst, records
technician, release of information technician, medical transcriptionist, clinical coding
specialist (inpatient/outpatient), physician practice manager, tumor registrar, and
patient information coordinator, among others.
In addition to college requirements in general education, coursework includes: Medical Terminology, Introduction to Health Information Technology, Introduction to Computers, Legal and Ethical Aspects of HIT, Directed Practice I & II, Principles of Management, Pathophysiology, Quality Improvement in Health Information Management, Coding Systems, Clinical Information Systems, Anatomy & Physiology, Statistics, and Health Information Technology. and health industry data. This site is maintained by the Library of Medicine as part
of its medical literature analysis and retrieval (MEDLINE) system. This site allows
the user to scan many of the thousands of journals and books contained in the database
based on topic or areas of specific interest.

This is the nation's leading organization for healthcare quality professionals.
Founded in 1976, NAHQ currently comprises more than 7,000 individual members and 100

This site offers information on research topics which the National Institutes
of Health (NIH) is currently accepting grant applications. Additionally, a user can
