NH Medication Bridge Program
Provider Information

Provider Responsibility for Medications:
In order for patients to access free prescriptions from pharmaceutical companies a licensed provider must be involved. A patient cannot access these medications without going through a provider. The provider must initiate the process and be responsible for receiving the medications.

The pharmaceutical companies require at a minimum a physician's signature on the application attesting that the patient is truly in need of the medications and is unable to purchase the medications without incurring a significant financial burden. Often times a physician will need to include a written prescription as well. The majority of companies will send the medications directly to the physician's office. The office staff must then follow standard procedures for dispensing medications to patients.

There are a few pharmaceutical companies that will send medications directly to the patient, but they do require the physician's signature and a written prescription for a refill.

There are also a few pharmaceutical companies that give patients a card to present at the pharmacy for their prescriptions. These companies also closely monitor the dispensing of medications and require physicians to sign re-applications on a regular basis.
