ANNUAL MEETING TO FOCUS ON REVOLUTIONARY INTERNET AND MEDICAL TECHNOLOGIES

(Concord, NH) Tom Landholt, MD, the clinical consultant for MedicaLogic, Inc., and William Dwyer, Vice President, Abbott HealthSystems Division, Abbott Laboratories, will headline the New Hampshire Hospital Association and Foundation for Healthy Communities Annual Meeting at the Balsams in Dixville Notch, NH. More than 300 hospital trustees, health care executives, physicians and nurses will attend the event on September 17 – 20. The theme of this year’s meeting is “High Velocity Healthcare: Powerful Medicine – Revolutionary Technology.”

Landholt, a former family physician who has helped to shape and define MedicaLogic’s electronic medical record, will share his expertise on online tools and their abilities for enhancing patient care and patient-provider relationships.

Dwyer will address cutting-edge medical advances in biotechnology, genetics, and pharmacology, drawing from his 20-plus years working in health systems management and marketing for Abbott Laboratories.

The annual meeting will also feature Warren Gitt, Manager of Internet Business Development for Data General Healthcare. Gitt will reveal how to use the internet to its fullest extent for mining healthcare information. He will also talk about the pros and cons of both national and local web site investments.

Finally, Al Mulley, MD, Chief of General Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital, will explore shared decision making in a presentation entitled “Doctors, Patients and Difficult Decisions.” Mulley will examine how technology can support both physicians and patients in their respective decision making roles.

The NHHA will present its annual awards to recognize excellence in healthcare. The Foundation will present its annual Innovators Award.
