ANNUAL MEETING TO FOCUS ON HOSPITAL TRUSTEE LEADERSHIP



(Concord, NH) James Orlikoff, the American Hospital Association's National Advisor on Governance and Leadership, will headline the New Hampshire Hospital Association and Foundation for Healthy Communities' Annual Meeting at the Sheraton Harborside Hotel in Portsmouth, NH. Over 300 hospital trustees, executives and physician and nurse leaders will attend the event which takes place September 12 through 14. The theme of this year's meeting is "Trustee Leadership for the New Century."

Orlikoff is President of Orlikoff & Associates, Inc., a consulting firm specializing in health care governance and leadership quality, organizational development and risk management. He's been involved in leadership and quality issues for over twenty years and has designed and implemented hospital management programs in four countries.

The NHHA and Foundation Annual Meeting will also feature Carolyn Lewis, the 1999 Chair-elect of the American Hospital Association’s Board of Trustees. Ms. Lewis will share her vision of how trustees can play a role in building healthier communities.

Tuesday's general session will feature two concurrent programs. Susan Edgman-Levitan, President of The Picker Institute, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to improve the quality of health care through the patient's eyes, will present a session entitled Professional Satisfaction: What Do Physicians and Nurses Want. Michael E. Davenport, founder of a Hospital Association and Foundation Meeting consulting firm dedicated to the strategic thinking, planning and implementation of all aspects of the philanthropic enterprise for not-for-profit institutions will present Healthcare Philanthropy: Providing Funds and Community Connectivity.

The meeting will also feature the presentation of the New Hampshire Hospital Association's annual awards recognizing excellence in healthcare and the Foundation for Healthy Communities’ Innovators Award.
